On November 29, 2024, SPS became the police of jurisdiction, and assumed responsibility and command for policing and law enforcement in Surrey. POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented Clerk 3 – Community Partnerships to support the Crime Prevention Unit and its volunteer program. This flexible position, based primarily at the North Annex with occasional work at HQ and District offices, plays a key role in supporting crime prevention initiatives, road safety programs, and volunteer engagement. In this role, you will assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, record management, preparing reports, and coordinating volunteer activities.
Additionally, you will support the creation of training materials, help organize community outreach events, and manage communication related to road safety initiatives like Speed Watch. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, be proficient in office software, and have a passion for community-focused crime prevention efforts. Schedule / Hours of Work
The anticipated schedule for this position is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends required for events and community activities. Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares word processed reports.
- Files and keeps records.
- Checks, balances, and maintains accounts and other records.
- Prepares and assists in assigning classifications or numerical designations to files, records, plans and related documents.
- Prepares and posts schedules, sign up notices and charts.
- Posts, maintains, reconciles, and balances records not requiring special accounting techniques.
- Collects and inputs data.
- Operates office equipment, such as PC’s, word processors, photocopiers, and fax machines.
- Provides information to others, traces errors, corrects deviations from policy and answers inquiries and complaints from the public and staff.
- Advises subordinates on new or revised procedures and unusual problems.
- Explains division regulations and procedures.
- Assists other staff in performing their duties.
- Performs related duties as required.
APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by several courses in word processing, office practices and computer applications.
- Minimum two years experience and training in an office environment.
- Must have accurate typing speed of 45 wpm.
- All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS.

- This is a unionized position, represented by CUPE 402.
- The salary range is $30.12/hr to $31.97/hr (pay grade 12) based on 2024 rates.
