POSITION OVERVIEW

Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a regular full-time Clerk 3 to support out Court Services team, Information Management and Technology Division, within the Corporate Services Bureau.  Reporting to the Court Services Manager and under the supervision of Court Liaison Supervisor. The incumbent performs moderately complex and diversified clerical work in various capacities. Work at this level will require independent judgement and initiative within defined guidelines. The duration of the term may be shortened or extended based on operational needs.

Schedule / Hours of Work

The anticipated schedule for this position is 35 hours per week. Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares word processed reports.
  • Files and keeps records.
  • Checks, balances, and maintains accounts and other records.
  • Prepares and assists in assigning classifications or numerical designations to files, records, plans and related documents.
  • Prepares and posts schedules, sign up notices and charts.
  • Posts, maintains, reconciles, and balances records not requiring special accounting techniques.
  • Collects and inputs data.
  • Operates office equipment, such as PC’s, word processors, photocopiers, and fax machines.
  • Provides information to others, traces errors, corrects deviations from policy and answers inquiries and complaints from the public and staff.
  • Advises subordinates on new or revised procedures and unusual problems.
  • Explains division regulations and procedures.
  • Assists other staff in performing their duties.
  • Performs related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by several courses in word processing, office practices and computer applications.
  • Minimum two years experience and training in an office environment.
  • Must have accurate typing speed of 45 wpm
  • All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS. This role also requires RCMP Reliability Status (security clearance). The successful candidate must obtain, and maintain, the required standards of RCMP security clearance, in addition to their SPS security clearance.

This position is unionized represented by CUPE Local 402. The salary range for this position is $30.12/hour -$31.97/hour (pay grade 012) based on 2024 Rates.
