Surrey Police
Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipal police agency. On November 29, 2024,
SPS became the police of jurisdiction, and assumed responsibility and command
for policing and law enforcement in Surrey. SPS is working to redefine policing
with innovative new approaches and community-based solutions. It’s an exciting

POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey Police Service (SPS) is seeking a detail-oriented and
motivated Clerk 3 to join the Employee Services Section within the Human
Resources & Support Division of the Corporate Services Bureau. This is an
excellent opportunity to be part of a collaborative, service-driven team
supporting key operations and organizational priorities.
Reporting to the ESS Staff Sergeant, you will perform a range of
moderately complex clerical and administrative duties, requiring initiative,
sound judgment, and the ability to work independently within established
guidelines. Responsibilities include collecting, verifying, and entering data
into systems and spreadsheets; responding to inquiries and providing
information to stakeholders; and assisting team members with day-to-day
operations.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able
to think critically while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced
environment. You bring strong technical proficiency, excellent communication
skills, and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to build and maintain
effective working relationships across teams. A solid understanding of office
practices, proficiency with standard computer applications, and confidence
using office equipment are essential for success in this role.
Schedule / Hours of Work
The anticipated
schedule for this position is 7:00 to 15:00. Please note, the hours are subject
to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collecting and inputting data into software programs
- Preparing reports and data summaries.
- Preparing files and documents.
- Scheduling meetings and taking minutes.
- Assisting Sergeants and other staff in performing
their duties, as required.
- Handling records, including data collection,
maintenance, reconciliation, and balancing without requiring advanced
accounting techniques.
- Monitors and responds to email proxies and other
communications.
- Explains departmental regulations and procedures.
- Maintains supplies inventory.
- Plans and facilitates swearing-in ceremonies for sworn
members, including logistics, physical set up and takedown, and travel to
offsite locations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by several
courses in word processing, office practices and computer applications.
- Minimum two years experience and training in an office
environment.
- Must have accurate typing speed of 40 wpm.
- All
applicants must obtain, and maintain, the required standards of police
security clearance throughout employment with SPS.

The salary range is $30.12 to $31.97 per hour (pay grade 012) based on
2024 rates
