POSITION OVERVIEW

Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for two (2) Clerk 3 – Investigative Support positions to join our Specialized Operations Division, within the Investigative Services Bureau. Reporting to Inspector, Investigative Support Unit, the incumbent performs a variety of moderately complex clerical tasks. This level of work requires taking initiative and exercising independent judgement within established guidelines.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive administrative and operational support to the unit by coordinating and scheduling interviews for prolific offenders and parolees, managing designated email proxies such as highrisk offender accounts, and reviewing and conducting basic PRIME queries, including Sudden Death files, while ensuring compliance with identifiers related to outstanding missing persons. Responsibilities also include creating basic profiles, RTICBC bulletins, reports, and memos; maintaining accurate file management and data entry (including support to surveillance coordination); and managing appropriate contact with victims. The role involves photocopying notebooks, prevetting materials, arranging and tracking transcription services, and conducting hospital checks for missing people. The incumbent will be responsible for booking and securing interview and meeting rooms, tracking equipment inventories, coordinating ordering and replacement schedules, and supporting procurement processes. In addition, the position manages training requests, courses, court appearances, leave, and oncall resource scheduling to ensure effective operational readiness.

Schedule / Hours of Work

The anticipated schedule for this position is 35 hours per week (7 hours per day). Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares and formats a variety of documents and reports.
  • Accurately prepares and maintains, accounts, records, plans, files, schedules and related documents.
  • Prepares and assists in organizing and assigning classifications or numerical designations to documents, records, and plans.
  • Handles records, including data collection, maintenance, reconciliation, and balancing without requiring advanced accounting techniques.
  • Operates a variety of office equipment.
  • Uses relevant software and applications.
  • Provides information to resolve inquiries and complaints for the public and staff.
  • Provides advice and guidance to staff on new procedures and atypical issues.
  • Explains departmental regulations and procedures.
  • Assists other staff in their duties as needed.
  • Performs related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by several courses in office administration or other related courses.
  • A minimum 2 years experience in an office environment.
  • A minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • This position requires both SPS Security Clearance and RCMP Reliability Status. All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS, which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

  • The salary range is $30.12 to $31.97 (pay grade 12) based on 2024 rates.
