POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for three (3) Regular Full time Clerk 4 (District Office) positions to join our Specialized Operations Division, within the Investigative Services Bureau. Reporting to the District Staff Sergeant and District Inspector, the incumbent performs complex clerical tasks with a high level of responsibility, while also supervising junior clerical staff within the department. The incumbent will have minimal supervision and be expected to demonstrate independent judgement and initiative.
This position is also responsible for supporting law enforcement administrative processes through the PRIME system. Key duties include conducting queries and updating individual records for Subpoena and Summons service, managing workflow assignments, and documenting all actions taken in PRIME. The role also involves attending district-level meetings to take notes and communicate follow-up information, as well as assisting the public by completing low-risk walk-in reports and accurately entering all pertinent details into PRIME.
Schedule / Hours of Work
The anticipated schedule for this position is 7 hours per day/35 hours per week. Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans, coordinates, trains, and supervises clerical staff in a variety of various functions.
- Interprets and communicates departmental regulations to the public to address complex issues.
- Reviews and validates the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of a wide array of records, statements, and office documents within departmental regulations.
- Creates new forms, procedures, and instructions, subject to a review by a supervisor.
- Compiles documents by collecting and reviewing a range of data and complex statistical reports.
- Conducts junior level accounting statistical analysis.
- Composes various technical letters.
- Assists other staff in their duties.
- May be assigned to different divisions or sections within the department.
- Performs related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by completion of several business courses at a post-secondary level.
- Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible and diversified clerical experience including some supervisory experience.
- A minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute is required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS, which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

- The salary range is $30.74/hour - $33.41/hour (pay grade 015) based on 2024 rates.
