POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for temporary full-time Clerk Typist 4 (TRC) to join our Information Management and Technology Division, within the Corporate Services Bureau. Reporting to the Court Services Manager and under the supervision of TRC Supervisor. The incumbent performs advanced clerical work of varied complexity including word processing, secretarial and supervisory duties. Primary responsibilities involve converting audio and visual statements into written text.
Currently, the position is scheduled run for up to 18 months (approximately). The duration of the term may be shortened or extended based on operational needs.
Schedule / Hours of Work
The anticipated schedule for this position is 35 hours per week. Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates, trains, and supervises clerical staff in a variety of functions.
- Arranges meetings and appointments and ensures availability of materials for meetings.
- Develops and maintains systems pertaining to filing, records and databases, including a bring forward system.
- Maintains and assures security of confidential filing system.
- Researches, collects, compiles, and analyzes information and data from various sources to facilitate the organization and preparation of documents and reports.
- Word processes letters of a technical nature, correspondence, reports, forms, and handwritten information.
- Prepares varied documents and complex statistical reports.
- Performs data collection and entry.
- Drafts new forms, procedures, and instructions subject to review of a supervisor.
- Operates office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, and fax machines.
- Assists other staff in performing their duties.
- Performs related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by courses in computer office applications, data processing and office practices.
- Minimum two years of progressively responsible and diversified clerical experience including supervisory experience.
- Must have accurate typing speed of 60 wpm.
- All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police clearance throughout their employment with SPS. This role also requires RCMP Reliability Status (security clearance).

- The salary range is $31.97/hour - $34.75/hour (pay grade 015) based on 2024 rates.
