POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Security Coordinator to join our Facilities Management Unit, within the Corporate Services Bureau. Reporting to the Facilities Management Manager, the Corporate Security Coordinator is responsible for the operation, safety, security, and integrity of all physical and technological assets of SPS. The incumbent will assist in planning, developing, delivering and implementing security policies and procedures, and will be involved in improvements, audits and upgrades related to the protection of SPS personnel and assets.
Schedule / Hours of Work
This is an on-site position and the anticipated schedule for this position is 37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm. Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the safety, security, and operational integrity of all physical and technological assets at SPS.
- Support the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, audits, and system upgrades to safeguard personnel and assets.
- Conduct security risk assessments, facility sweeps, and contribute to emergency response planning.
- Develop and maintain corporate security policies, event-specific security plans, and vulnerability assessments.
- Manage and ensure the effectiveness of physical security systems, including access control, intrusion detection, surveillance, and perimeter protection.
- Monitor and maintain security equipment, ensuring timely resolution of any technical issues.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, deliver security-related training, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance and sustain corporate security programs and incident response strategies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of integrated physical and technological security systems, including access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance.
- Knowledge of corporate security operations, emergency response protocols, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of infrastructure planning and building specifications related to asset and personnel protection.
- Knowledge of security policy development, risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, and awareness initiatives.
- Ability to design and implement security policies in alignment with organizational goals and expert consultation.
- Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate security risks through proactive planning and response.
- Ability to prepare detailed documentation and reports to support security operations and decision-making.
- Ability to deliver effective training and educational programs on security procedures and protocols.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to physical security infrastructure and equipment.
- Ability to lead and support change initiatives within a dynamic security environment.
- Ability to manage complex security projects and ensure successful execution of operational plans.
- Ability to communicate technical and procedural information clearly and professionally.
- Ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders to maintain and improve security programs.
- Ability to apply analytical thinking and creative problem-solving to address evolving security challenges.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary certification in security technology, physical security, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in emergency response, operations, security management, or program development.
- Professional designation or certification such as ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) is considered an asset.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- SPS CLEARANCE All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS, which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

- This is an Exempt position.
- The salary range is $78,716-92,607 (pay grade A3) based on 2024 rates.
