POSITION OVERVIEW

Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Court Services/Liaison Supervisor to join our Information Management and Technology Division, within the Corporate Services Bureau. Reporting to the Court Services Manager, the incumbent is responsible for supervising a team of court services staff. Ensuring services, resources, and implementation of strategies are consistent and aligned with overall needs and priorities of Surrey Police Service (SPS). Considerable independence of judgment is exercise.  The duration of the term may be shortened based on operational needs.

Schedule / Hours of Work

The anticipated schedule for this position is 37.5 hours per week. Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for supervising a team of court services staff.
  • Prioritizes and delegates workload.
  • Ensures objectives and deadlines are met.
  • Provides training, guidance, direction, mentorship, and support to the court liaison officers and support staff.
  • Reviews and audits reports to crown council, computer systems interface, and performs quality assurance measures.
  • Analyzes reports related to the work.
  • Responsible for drafting policies related to the work.
  • Responsible for administrative duties related to the work.
  • Schedules staff in the related area.
  • Develops and implements standard operating procedures.
  • Develops training to meet the standard operating procedures.
  • Delivers presentations, briefings, and updates related to the work.
  • Liaises with crown counsel, court registry, and other agencies.
  • Performs duties of court liaison officers as required.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of Grade 12, supplemented with a degree in a related field and 5 years of directly related experience including 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the BC Special Provincial Constable designation.
  • This position requires both SPS Security Clearance and RCMP Reliability Status. All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS, which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

  • This is a unionized position, represented by CUPE 402.
  • The salary range is $47.52/hour - $53.84/hour (pay grade 27B) based on 2024 rates.
