POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Cybersecurity Analyst 2 to join our Corporate Services Bureau. Reporting to the IT Infrastructure and Operations Manager, the successful candidate should possess a working knowledge in antivirus, IPS, and firewalls configuration; email, web, and cloud security; identity and access management; public key infrastructure, encryption, and tokenization; vulnerability scanning and penetration testing; security threat and risk assessment and threat modeling; security event and incident management; wired and wireless network access control; industrial controls security; mobile security and mobile device management; and PCI compliance and micro segmentation.
Please note this is an in-office position with currently no option for remote work. The anticipated work schedule is 35 hours/week, however are subject to change based on operational need and adherence to the Collective Agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of this dynamic team, our successful candidate will be part of the team responsible for a variety of cyber security functions including but not limited to:
- Maintaining and updating firewall rules.
- Managing intrusion prevention systems.
- Configuration of anti-virus engine policies and register malware.
- Configuration of VPN tunnels and remote access rules.
- Triaging of Advanced Threat Detection (ATD) alerts and tune detection rules.
- Managing and maintaining web content filter rulesets, conducting vulnerability scanning for PCI and internet facing systems.
- Conducting cyber security investigations and responding to real or suspected cyber security incidents.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Proven ability to document and communicate cyber security processes, risk-mitigation plans, and training for a variety of users, team members, and stakeholder groups.
- Research capabilities and sourcing of information related to maintaining cyber security awareness and identifying risks in an evolving and complex technological environment.
- Highly organized and solutions-focused with an ability to think critically.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with users, team members, and key stakeholders in supporting SPS’s IT infrastructure and strategic IT priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information Systems plus 3 years of cyber security experience or a diploma in Computer Science or Information Systems plus 6 years of cyber security experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Licenses and Certificates: CISSP, GIAC or equivalent security certification.
- All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS, which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

- The salary range is $55.86/hour - $63.35/hour (pay grade 31) based on 2024 rates.
