On November 29, 2024, SPS became the police of jurisdiction, and assumed responsibility and command for policing and law enforcement in Surrey. POSITION OVERVIEW

Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for an auxiliary Feet Assistant to join our Business & Infrastructure unit, within the Corporate Services Bureau. Reporting to the Fleet Manager, the incumbent drives vehicles to and from Surrey Police Service (SPS) garage, service garages and offices. Picks up and delivers supplies, equipment, and vehicles.

Schedule / Hours of Work

To be eligible for this auxiliary position, incumbents must have flexible availability and be able to commit to a

minimum of two (2) shifts per month. Shifts may include weekdays, evenings, weekend and holidays. Assigned shifts

may be prescheduled or by call-in. The anticipated work schedule for the auxiliary position is 16-40 hours a week.

Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective

Agreement.

Working Conditions

Physical work in the automotive warehouse and outdoors in all types of weather conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Delivers police vehicles for mechanical, body, and repair work to and from service repair shops according to maintenance schedules or as necessitated.
  • Transports police officers as required.
  • Picks up and delivers a variety of equipment and supplies.
  • Performs minor repairs to vehicles.
  • Maintains monthly log of vehicle mileage.
  • Arranges for transfer of equipment from retired to new vehicles. Receives incoming materials and maintains warehouse inventory.
  • Seeks repair estimates from vendors for damages and determines suitable vendor as appropriate.
  • Checks levels of stock for reorders and initiates order requests for materials.
  • Assures adequate housekeeping of the automotive warehouse area.
  • Responds to inquiries from the public, staff, and others.
  • Assists other crew members in performing their duties.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by related training and experience.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
  • All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS, which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

  • The salary is $30.41/hour (pay grade 00C) based on 2024 rates.
