Surrey Police
Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipal police agency. On November 29, 2024,
SPS became the police of jurisdiction, and assumed responsibility and command
for policing and law enforcement in Surrey. SPS is working to redefine policing

POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey
Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Regular Full Time Fleet
Services Supervisor to join our Business and Infrastructure Section, within the Corporate Services Bureau.
Reporting to the Fleet Manager or designate, the position is responsible for
complex and diversified administrative and supervisory work overseeing the
operations of Surrey Police Service’s fleet of vehicles. Work at this level is
performed under minimal supervision and requires independent judgment and
initiative within established policies and guidelines. Office environment, as well as manual work in
the garage and in the field in all types of weather conditions.
Schedule / Hours of Work
This is an on-site
position and the anticipated schedule for this position is 8 hours per
day and 40 hours per week. Please note, the hours are subject to change based
on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
·
Plans, assigns, reviews, coordinates, and supervises the work of subordinate staff.

Provides training, guidance and direction to others as
it relates to the work.
·
Participates in the selection process for new
employees.
·
Provides input on performance reviews of subordinate
staff.
·
Coordinates vehicle and equipment maintenance,
retention, and disposal within the limits of approved policy and authority.
·
Coordinates insurance and licensing of SPS vehicles.
·
Coordinates and monitors the leasing/rental agreements
of SPS vehicles.
·
Assists in contract interpretation and warranty
claims.
·
Negotiates adjustments to contracts to ensure
compliance with specifications as needed.
·
Reviews motor vehicle accident reports, liaises, and
supports investigation with others as needed.
·
Collects, compiles, and evaluates information related
to current status or changes in fleet management operations and prepares draft
reports including forecasts, projections, and recommendations.
·
Establishes and maintains liaison with a variety of
internal and external contacts including vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers.
·
Expedites services and deliveries.
·
Maintains inventory and supply of frequently used
parts for onsite repairs.
·
Prepares and maintains a variety of complex
correspondence, records, files, and statistics.
·
Provides recommendations for operational efficiencies
at it relates to the work.
·
Responds to enquiries from internal and external
sources.
·
Performs other job-related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
·
Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by relevant
courses plus three years of progressively responsible experience including
supervisory experience.

Valid BC Class 5
Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
·
An equivalent combination of education
and experience may be considered.
·
All
applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance
throughout their employment with SPS, which includes
a mandatory polygraph examination.

The compensation range is $34.75
to $37.91 per hour (pay grade 20M) based on 2024 rates.
