On November 29, 2024, SPS became the police of jurisdiction, and assumed responsibility and command for policing and law enforcement in Surrey. POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for an Intervention Programs Manager to join our Community Partnerships Unit within the Community Policing Bureau. Reporting to the Community Partnerships Manager, the Intervention Programs Manager is responsible for leading teams in the Intervention Programs Unit that manage Surrey Police Services (SPS’s) initiatives for youth counselling and restorative justice including community outreach, education and partner engagement. The incumbent assists in developing and implementing policies for intervention programs and leads related special projects and initiatives.
Schedule / Hours of Work
The anticipated schedule for this position is Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week. Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs. SPS offer flexible work options (including a 4-day work week or 9-day fortnight scheduled) for qualifying Exempt positions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead a team of unionized staff to deliver services to a diverse client base participating in intervention and diversion programs.
- Ensure program delivery is in alignment with SPS’s organizational goals and serve as a subject matter expert when developing programs to address emerging trends and priorities.
- Coordinate staff to support internal police-based referrals.
- Coordinate staff to deliver youth programs and education series to the community.
- Liaise with internal staff and divisions to ensure timely referrals of relevant police files.
- Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports for management as requested.
- Conduct file reviews and may actively work on complex cases.
- Develop and uses data from statistical reports to make recommendations to management on improving service delivery and support implementing new policies and procedures.
- Develop and sustain strong relations with external organizations and the broader community.
- Make public presentations, liaise with external stakeholders and supports SPS on its community engagement initiatives.
- Manage staff in areas including recruitment, development (i.e., coaching, mentoring, training), discipline, labour relations, performance management, workforce planning, and organize/schedule and delegate work to meet SPS and employee needs.
- Understand and support the unit’s priorities and objectives while working toward the long-range vision/strategic plans of SPS.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of a Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in a related field.
- A minimum of five years of related experience including supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized public sector employer.
- All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS, which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

- This is a union exempt position.
- The salary range is $108,999 to $128,234* annually (pay grade M2) based on 2024 rates.
