POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for an Inventory Clerk to join our Training and Development Division, within the Corporate Services Bureau. Reporting to the Asset Manager, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining, issuing and accepting returns of inventory items and providing related support. Work at this level will require independent judgment and initiative within defined guidelines.
Schedule / Hours of Work
The anticipated schedule for this position is 35 hours per week. Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Records issuance and return of inventory items.
- Ensures inventory items are readily available and in working order.
- Enters law enforcement notifications and ensures members are notified.
- Completes data entry related to the work.
- Tracks movement of inventory items.
- Orders inventory items.
- Sends inventory items for maintenance and servicing.
- Receives inventory items and handles recall notifications.
- Disposes of inventory items.
- Completes safety checks on inventory items.
- Liaises with staff, RCMP members and external parties in relation to the work.
- Responds to internal and external inquiries and requests for information.
- Prepares and maintains files, records and documentation related to the work.
- Assists other staff in performing their duties.
- Performs related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by business and/or computer courses at post secondary level.
- Minimum of two years related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- This position requires both SPS Security Clearance and RCMP Reliability Status. All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS, which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

- The salary range is $30.12/hour - $31.97/hour (pay grade 12) based on 2024 rates.
