jurisdiction, and assumed responsibility and command for policing and law
enforcement in Surrey. SPS is working to redefine policing with innovative new

POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey
Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Full-Time
Major Case File Administrators to join our Specialized Operations Division,
within the Investigation Services Bureau. Reporting to the Major Case File
Manager or designate, the incumbent compiles, organizes and reviews highly
complex information to meet administrative and electronic file coordination
needs for the major crime section. The incumbent exercises independent judgment
within established policies and procedures.
Currently, the position is scheduled run for up to 18 months
(approximately). The duration of the term may be shortened or extended based on
operational needs.
Schedule / Hours of Work
This is an on-site
position and the anticipated schedule for this position is 7.5 hours each day,
for a total of 37.5 hours per week. Please
note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence
to the Collective Agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
·
Assembles, prepares,
organizes, and consolidates and reviews highly complex electronic disclosure
packages for crown counsel and Surrey Police Service (SPS) major crime section
partner agencies.

Liaises and provides
support to the file coordinator and investigative teams regarding necessary
edits and formatting of disclosure packages.
·
Updates and maintains
complex processes for document scanning, data entry, organization, retrieval,
and related tasks.
·
Ensures data security,
integrity, and compliance with established policies, procedures, and legislated
regulations governing data access and use.
·
Liaises with the file
coordinator and investigative teams with electronic file and administrative
needs throughout the various stages of investigations and court proceedings.
·
Attends relevant
investigational briefings as directed by SPS major crime section.
·
Prepares and edits digital,
audio and video files as requested for training use, investigations, or for
submission to crown counsel.
·
Ensures all materials are
organized in a logical and comprehensible format that follows established
policies and regulations.

Converts digital, audio,
and video files to acceptable formats.
·
Provides training to system
users including staff, and others, as required.
·
Provides functional
support, information, and assistance to case management system users.
·
Liaises with technical
support and information technology staff and assists in identifying and
resolving software problems.
·
Prepares detailed
correspondence, reports and information summaries and carries out other
administrative duties related to the work.

Performs other job-related
duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
·
A valid BC Class 5 driver’s
license with a safe driving record.
·
Completion of Grade 12,
supplemented by post secondary courses in a related field from a recognized
post-secondary institution.

A minimum of five years
experience in a policing environment.
·
An equivalent combination
of education and related experience.
·
This position requires both SPS
Security Clearance and RCMP Reliability Status. All applicants must obtain and
maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment
with SPS, which includes
a mandatory polygraph examination.

The salary range is $36.41/hour -
$40.86/hour (pay grade 22B) based on 2024 rates.
