Surrey Police Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipal police agency. POSITION OVERVIEW

Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Regular Full-Time OCC Scheduler to join our Community Policing North Division, within the Community Policing Bureau. Reporting to the OCC Manager and their delegate, the incumbent is responsible for the coordination and implementation of complex scheduling ensuring consistency, providing complex related reports and operational duties including systems application support. The incumbent will exercise independence of judgment and work under limited supervision.

Schedule / Hours of Work

This is an on-site position and the anticipated schedule for this position is a flexible 37.5-hour week (7.5 hours per day).  Office environment, requiring concentration and focus under pressure of deadlines.  Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains and updates the OCC daily, weekly, and monthly schedules ensuring continuous operations and coverage.
  • Applies complex time and scheduling rules consistently.
  • Orients new staff to the scheduling process.
  • Assists in the training of staff in scheduling new hire development and integration.
  • Prepares various analyses that are required by the OCC management team.
  • Collects and tracks OCC performance data for the development of short and long range division plans.
  • Maintains, logs and monitors status of security clearance for new applicants.
  • Responds to phone calls in relation to career opportunities in the OCC.
  • Maintains orientation package provided to new employees for computer and building access.
  • Assists the Manager OCC with development and review of OCC policy as it relates to scheduling, workforce planning,
  • vacation, and absenteeism.
  • Develops and maintain detailed records and documentation.
  • Assists in special projects and ad-hoc reporting as required.
  • Assists the trainer with the creation of a yearly course calendar for training with SPS.
  • Assists with and coordinates OCC equipment tracking, maintenance and repairs.
  • Assists the Manager OCC with administrative duties, as required.
  • Attends and participates in meetings related to the work.
  • Provides recommendations on new or improved administrative procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by completion of related courses.
  • Four years of related experience with operational exposure to an OCC environment and scheduling.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
  • Must have an accurate typing speed of 45 wpm.
  • This position requires both SPS Security Clearance and RCMP Reliability Status. All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS, which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

  • This is a unionized position, represented by CUPE 402.
  • The salary range is $36.97/hour - $42.54/hour (pay grade 19A) based on 2025 reclassification.
