Surrey Police Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipal police agency. On November 29, 2024, SPS became the police of jurisdiction, and assumed responsibility and command for policing and law enforcement in Surrey. POSITION OVERVIEW

Surrey Police Service (SPS) is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our Information Management and Technology Division as a Records Quality Reviewer 1. We are seeking up to five (5) incumbents who are committed to upholding a high level of accuracy, integrity, and excellence in policing records. As part of the Corporate Services Bureau, you will contribute to a collaborative team that ensures a high standard of file quality, accurate PRIME UCR (Uniform Crime Reporting) on police files, resulting in reliable crime statistics and high-quality reports.
 

Schedule / Hours of Work

The anticipated schedule for this position is 4 on/4 off, day shift. Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts daily audits of data and files on PRIME to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and completeness in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Reviews and updates Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) primary and secondary scoring throughout the lifecycle of the file to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Resolves errors and related issues to conclude files.
  • Ensures all mandatory information including but not limited to entities, attachments, text pages, detail pages and UCR scoring is completed to support consistent and accurate reporting.
  • Ensures compliance with governing policies, authorizations and approvals on files and related documentation.
  • Ensures eligible files are concluded or routed for correction and/or follow up.
  • Collaborates with SPS sworn members and internal teams to obtain missing mandatory information and remains informed on updated processes, business rules, and UCR scoring changes.
  • Assists in providing recommendations related to operational improvements.
  • Monitors related emails and maintains data, documentation and files related to the work.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of legislation and governing policies related to the work.
  •  Knowledge of SPS policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of police databases such as PRIME and Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC).
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting matters related to various indices checks.
  • Knowledge of police terminology, and reporting and audit procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable computer programs related to the work including but not limited to Microsoft Office.
  •  Ability to audit and conclude files.
  • Ability to learn updated policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
  •  Ability to use organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to exercise independence of judgment and action with specified guidelines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various partners.
  • Relevant level of security clearance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses in a related discipline including PRIME courses.
  •  A minimum of three years of related experience including experience working with PRIME and in UCR Scoring.
  • Typing speed of 45 wpm.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • This position requires both SPS Security Clearance and RCMP Reliability Status. All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS, which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

  • This is a unionized position, represented by CUPE 402.
  • The salary range is $32.90/hour - $35.71/hour (pay grade 16) based on 2024 rates.
