Surrey Police Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipal police agency. On November 29, 2024, SPS became the police of jurisdiction, and assumed responsibility and command for policing and law enforcement in Surrey. POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Analyst 2 to join our Information Technology Division, within the Corporate Services Bureau. Performing a critical role in the development and sustainment of our IT infrastructure, the successful candidate possesses a strong understanding of IT Systems essential to maintain the integrity of enterprise systems and the data that resides on them. Focus areas include; virtualization & provisioning, storage systems management, end-point management, audio visual solutions, and other infrastructure applications. In addition, our incumbents will work with business units, various IT teams, and vendors to maintain overall Infrastructure health and deployments in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
Schedule / Hours of Work
The anticipated schedule for this position is 35 hours/week. Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Documents user requirements, formulates logical statements of problems, devises solutions through information technology (IT) or other means, develops costs/benefits and submits recommendations for approval.
- Performs programming activities as needed and liaises with user divisions, other IT staff, and vendors during the development of new systems.
- Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
- Monitors the systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
- Prepares designs for smaller computer or web-based systems or parts of larger systems through to the stage of detailed program specifications.
- Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
- Prepares detailed system designs and program specifications.
- Documents systems in accordance with standards.
- Reviews programs, test plans and test results.
- Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
- Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
- Conducts post-implementation reviews of the effectiveness of new systems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge in one or more complex essential IT infrastructure components including but not limited to relational database system, network operating system, or wide area network.
- Knowledge of infrastructure related to the work including but not limited to VoIP, telecom media gateways and trunks, cellular wireless, AV multiplexers and controllers.
- Knowledge of IT security issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to apply a work around, improvise, or conduct root cause analysis.
- Ability to work with a strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to provide guidance to junior staff.
APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in a related field from a recognized institution.
- Two years related experience or, an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Candidates with experience with VMware, Microsoft SCCM, Azure, Cisco UCS, Netapp products, Active Directory (AD), Azure Active Directory (AAD) including administration of Group Policies are preferred.
- All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS.

- The salary range is $47.52/hour - $53.84/hour (pay grade 27) based on 2024 rates.
