Surrey Police Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipal police agency. On November 29, 2024, SPS became the police of jurisdiction, and assumed responsibility and command for policing and law enforcement in Surrey. POSITION OVERVIEW

Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for two (2) Training Coordinators (RFT) to join our Professional Skills Section, within the Corporate Services Bureau. The Training Coordinator would be responsible for the coordination of courses, data entry and maintenance, training document development and maintenance, and any associated duties for both sworn and civilian training within Surrey Police Service (SPS) and district offices. The incumbents would report to the Sergeant of either the Recruit Development Unit (1 position) or the Training Standards Unit (1 position) and supervises clerical support staff within their respective units.

 

Schedule / Hours of Work

The anticipated schedule for this position is from Monday to Friday. Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides support and coordination for PROFS training offered internally at SPS
  • Assists with training PROFS clerical support staff and provides input into their performance evaluation.
  • Supervises clerical support staff within their respective unit (TSU or RDU)
  • Provides input for and assist with maintaining the annual training course calendar within SPS.
  • Provides materials and support to SPS instructors to assist in the facilitation of courses.
  • Setup and take down of training rooms and venues for courses/workshops/conferences and provides opening remarks for course openings, if required.
  • Reviews course evaluation forms for SPS training courses and provides feedback for action.
  • Assists with maintaining course and conference training requests, resulting tasks and documentation
  • Responsible for ensuring PROFS training equipment is properly secured, reserved, assigned, and maintained.
  • Provides reports and data on training within their respective units.
  • Assists with organizing the scheduling of training classrooms or venues.
  • Supervises clerical tasks within the Learning Management System (LMS), including training completions and documentation.
  • Maintains all training-related documentation within the PROFS SharePoint Site within their respective units.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Several relevant courses from a recognized post-secondary institution,
  • Two years experience in training or a training related field or five years related experience in a police environment.
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be accepted.
  • All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS, which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

  • This is a unionized position, represented by CUPE 402.
  • The salary range is $35.71/hour - $38.98/hour (pay grade 19) based on 2024 rates.
