Surrey Police Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipal police agency. The transition from the RCMP to SPS is well underway and SPS has spent the past three years building a local, modern, accountable police service for Surrey residents. On November 29, 2024, SPS will become the police of jurisdiction, assuming responsibility for policing and law enforcement in Surrey.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Cybersecurity Analyst 2 to join our Support Services Bureau.  As part of this dynamic team, our successful candidate will be part of the team responsible for a variety of cyber security functions including but not limited to maintaining and updating firewall rules; managing intrusion prevention systems; configuration of anti-virus engine policies and register malware; configuration of VPN tunnels and remote access rules; and triaging of Advanced Threat Detection (ATD) alerts and tune detection rules. In addition, this position is responsible for managing and maintaining web content filter rulesets, conducting vulnerability scanning for PCI and internet facing systems; conducting cyber security investigations and responding to real or suspected cyber security incidents.

With strong written and verbal communication skills, our candidate will have a proven ability to document and communicate cyber security processes, risk-mitigation plans, and training for a variety of users, team members, and stakeholder groups. This role will also require research capabilities and sourcing of information related to maintaining cyber security awareness and identifying risks in an evolving and complex technological environment.

The successful candidate should possess a working knowledge in antivirus, IPS, and firewalls configuration; email, web, and cloud security; identity and access management; public key infrastructure, encryption, and tokenization; vulnerability scanning and penetration testing; security threat and risk assessment and threat modeling; security event and incident management; wired and wireless network access control; industrial controls security; mobile security and mobile device management; and PCI compliance and micro segmentation.

APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information Systems plus 3 years of cyber security experience or a diploma in Computer Science or Information Systems plus 6 years of cyber security experience.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Licenses and Certificates: CISSP, GIAC or equivalent security certification.

This position is unionized represented by CUPE Local 402. The salary range for this position is $55.86/hour -$63.35/hour (pay grade 31) based on 2024 Rates.
